Earlier distinct ethnic groups used to populate this land which is now known as Poland. In the 10th century, under Piast dynasty Poland started to form a recognizable unitary and territorial entity.Mieszko I had accepted Christianity with the Baptism of Poland in the year 966. This in result led to the most of people converting into this course. It was in the middle of the 13th century when Silesian branch of the Piast dynasty had already started succeeding the Polish lands.The Piast dynasty finally came to an end when Casimir died. DURING THE 11th, 12th and 13th centuries, Poland had become a major destination of the migrants of German, Flemish,Scottish,Danish and Walloon. The early modern era and the late middle ages saw the Jagiellon dynasty come into supreme power in which Poland had started to develop as a Feudal state.During the 16th and the 17th centuries Poland saw dynastic crisis during the reigns of the Vasa Kings. The nobles democracy had started to decline from the 17th century due to internal disorder. It was in the later part of the 18th century when the Commonwealth had started to make internal reforms and there was a very good improvement that was much evident in the field of art, education and intellectual life. By the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century the Poles had started to rebel against the partitioners. In the year 1807, Napoleon of France had temporarily recreated a Polish state. During the time of World War I, all the allies had agreed on the reconstitution of Poland. The formal beginning to the world war II which still goes down in the books of history was marked by the Nazi german invasion of Poland on the 1st of September 1939. During this war, Poland had made the fourth largest troop. Solidarity became a political force post 1980 which led to the formation of this trade union.
