CONCORDE : Faster,Higher And Hidden Away

Concorde was the world’s most glamorous British Airline aircraft which flew more than 2.5 million passengers supersonically , i.e., at a speed higher than that of Sound. Concorde had a cruising speed of 1350 mph which is more than twice the speed of sound and it took around three and a half hour from London to New York as compared to subsonic flights which take eight hours for the same. This meant that you would see the aircraft before you heard its sound.  In October 1969, the Concorde had its first public flight where there was a crowd of more than 7.5 lakhs spectators to witness this great innovation of mankind. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the world’s most famous plane had to be brought out of service, first by Air France and then by British Airways – marking the end of supersonic passenger flight. In terms of technology it was pioneer, it had the first computer controlled engine that was more advanced than the engine of spaceship Apollo 11 that took the first man to the Moon.

What brought about the Concorde crash?

On 25 July 2000, Flight 4590 for New York’s JFK airport, carrying mostly German tourists headed to South America was about to take off when it struck a metal strip resulting in a tire burst. The strip had tumbled from the underside of a Continental Airlines DC-10 that had withdrawn minutes prior, which was going toward Houston. The report said that supersonic airliner hit to the 43 cm titanium strip and one of the plane’s tires blast and creating the rubber to fly up and rupture a fuel tank. All 109 passengers and crew were dead including the four people on the ground. The fuel tank flame was the direct reason for the accident and a couple of days prior, the Associated Press was taking it is a common case and what the general people has been perusing and listening from them :”The blast tire sent bits of elastic flying, puncturing the fuel tanks, which began the flame that cut down the plane.” In November 2001, Commercial services were again introduced after 17 Million Euro Safety Improvement Program. In 2003, British Airways and Air France announced plane to be retired.

In the comparison, it was less profitable than other aircraft in BA and Air France fleet. When Concorde was suspended for a short time after the accident in 2001, both the airlines realized that their passenger remained loyal to airline brands and flew first class in their subsonic aircraft. The maintenance and fuel costs of Concorde per person were too high than other Aircraft. There were many environmental issues like it could do supersonic only on the international waters which limited and network to flying supersonic above other continents. It produced nitrogen oxide in its exhaust which would make complicated interactions with other ozone, convert the result in degradation. There was no keen interest by British and France to upgrade the Aircraft or technology. Concorde was the only aircraft in 2000 which housed a flight engineer- a position eliminated by all commercial Aircraft due to sophistication of cockpit instruments while entire world had moved into digital glass cockpits and it still flew with analog instruments and gauges in cockpit. And the main and important conclusion that it was not affordable to everyone.

In 1789, Napoleon actively supported the French Revolution under the leadership of Robespierre who was the ideological father to the moment. By 1785 he had joined the army and became a trusted military leader to the French people. For his endeavors, Napoleon was soon named leader of the Army of the Interior. France had best period under Napoleon. It was not possible to reach the position of Emperor for a common man. He was very young when he came to power. He was a brilliant as well as ruthless solider. Napoleon’s great administrative skills led to a new constitution that made the position of first consul that is nothing less than a dictatorship. He came to power after French Revolution in the name of democracy and equality, but he in fact became an emperor and a despot, who centralized all the power in his hands. Press was restricted and people were put behind the bars without any trail and probably the very idea of democracy was trampled at each step. He likewise organized the Napoleonic Code, permitted freedom to his people and denied benefits on the basis of birth that giving legislature occupations must be given to the most deserving ones. Globally, he arranged an European peace. Despite all of this he was, he still is the most loved politician, General and Emperor of France. In 1808, he put his brother Joseph Bonaparte the king of Spain. In 1810, he divorced his wife Josephine and married Austrian Princess Marie Louise. By 1811 he was in total command of Europe.

He had following victories

1800 – Victory on Austria.
1804 – Proclaimed himself as an Emperor of France.
1806 – Victory over Russia.
1807 – Victory of Russian Army.
1998 – Successfully captured Egypt.
1796 – Success in Italian Campaign.

His greatest mistake was the invasion of Russian in 1812. The Russian war ended in catastrophic failure of France and Napoleon. In 1813, Russia, Prussia, Austria and Allied army defeated Napoleon in battle of Leipzig. Napoleon was captured and put in prison on the island of Elba. The Bourbons were restored to power in France. In 1815, he escaped from Elba, and he was so popular that while he was walking towards Paris where thousands of people joined him and he returned the power. Allied and England attack France and Napoleon and he was defeated in the battle of waterloo in June-1815. British captured him and sent him in prison of Island of Saint Helena.

Napoleon died there in 1821. He had a magnetic personality, all the soldiers who fought with him or for him, always felt that, they would always win. He was physically not very imposing but in one to one situation he was hypnotic. His greatest motivator and strength was his ambition. He had strict efficient work habit and he would keep shifts of staff and secretaries since he is always at work or would work all the time and was a great workaholic. He was a most controversial figure worldwide and probably the most loved figure of France.

The Age Of Discovery

Long distance exchange assumed a note worthy part in the social, religious, and masterful trades that occurred between the significant focuses of civilization in Europe and Asia primarily China and India. The famous Silk Road was the name given to the numerous trade routes that joined Europe and the Mediterranean with the Asian world. The course is more than 6,500 km long and got its name in light of the fact that the early Chinese exchanged silk along it. Inspite of the fact that silk was the fundamental exchanging thing there were numerous different goods that went along the Silk Road between Eastern Asia and Europe. Until the mid-fifteenth, trade with the east was attained through the Silk Road. For quite a while Chinese were the one who knew how to make valuable silk. Just the ruler, his family and his most elevated counselors were permitted to wear garments made of silk. The antiquated Romans were the first Europeans who got to be mindful of this sublime material. Exchanging began, regularly with Indians as go between who exchanged silk with the Chinese in return for gold and silver which they got from the Romans.

Religion, dialects and illnesses additionally spread along the Silk Road. European merchants most likely brought the plague from Asia to Europe along with them. During the Age of Exploration, the Silk Road lost its value because new sea routes to Asia were discovered.

Istanbul was the principle city along Silk Road serving as terrain crossing point and port from where items were transported overland or by pontoon to and from Europe and distinctive continents. The catch of Constantinople by the Ottoman Turks in 1453 was noteworthy for various reasons. To start with, the catch of the city made the Ottomans the most imperative power in southeastern Europe and the eastern Mediterranean and started a long stretch of development for the Empire. Next, numerous Greek researchers fled to Europe after the fall of the city, which helped fuel the conception of the Renaissance and helped convey to an end the Middle Ages. At last, the catch of the city remove an essential exchange course toward the east. This constrained Europeans to start considering an ocean route to China and the east, starting new thoughts in marine and route and  serving to start the Age of Exploration. In the midst of the Age of Exploration the Silk Road lost its centrality in light of the way that new sea courses to Asia were found.

In 1453, the Ottomans took Constantinople thus the Byzantine Empire was no more. Presently in control of the sole spice exchange course that existed at the time, the Ottoman Empire was in a good position to charge taxes on stock destined for the west. The Western Europeans, not having any desire to the lucrative business with the east, set going to discover a other sea route around Africa.

The first nation to endeavor to circumnavigate Africa was Portugal, which had, following the mid fifteenth century, started to investigate northern Africa under Henry the Navigator. Encouraged by the early success and looking at a lucrative imposing business model on a ocean course to the Indies the Portuguese initially crossed the Cape of Good Hope in 1488. After nine years in 1497 on the requests of Manuel I of Portugal, four vessels under the order of Vasco da Gama adjusted the Cape of Good Hope, proceeding toward the eastern bank of Africa to Malindi to cruise over the Indian Ocean to Calicut in south India. The goods of the Indies were currently open for the Europeans to trade. Portuguese Empire was the soonest European sea domain to develop from the spice trade. The Republic of Venice had turned into an impressive force, and a key player. Different forces, trying to break the Venetian hang on spice trade, started to develop sea capacity. One of the real results of this was the disclosure of the American landmass by European.

Spain composed the endeavor of Christopher Columbus to contend with Portugal for the spice trade with Asia, yet rather, arrived in a New World. Finding for a course to Asia was continued a couple of years after the fact, after wayfarer Vasco de Balboa crossed the Isthmus of Panama in 1513 and turned into the first European to sight the Pacific Ocean, affirming that America was a different mainland. The Spanish crown then arranged an extraordinary westbound voyage with Ferdinand Magellan, to achieve Asia from Spain over the Atlantic, and afterward Pacific Oceans. On October 21, 1520 his endeavor crossed the strait that bears his name in the southern tip of South America, opening the Pacific to European. On March 16, 1521 the ships came to the Philippines and not long after the Spice Islands, eventually bringing about the Manila Galleon exchange, the first west spice trade route to Asia.

After Magellan’s passing in the Philippines, pilot Juan Sebastian took command of the endeavor and drove it over the Indian Ocean and back to Spain, where they touched base in 1522 on board the final ship: the Victoria. These adventurers turned into the first men to circumnavigate the globe. For the following two and half hundreds of years, Spain controlled an endless exchange arrange that connected three mainlands: Asia, the Americas and Europe. A worldwide spice route had been made: from Manila in the Philippines (Asia) to Seville in Spain (Europe), by means of Acapulco in Mexico (America).

World Without Wars :The Story Of The Christmas Truce

Christmas Truce of 1914 which is often represent as a symbolic dimension of peace and this came only five months after the outbreak of World War I in Europe and was one of the last examples of such a humanity between enemies in warfare. In the hundred years since, the event has been seen as a kind of miracle, a rare moment of peace into a war. Europe has given a great thought to mankind. People know about European history of World War I, World War II, napoleon wars and also many wars but hardly anyone knows that in Europe there was a story about Christmas Truce where the armies and soldiers of two Europeans powers fighting against each other celebrated Christmas together, played football, gave present  and shared a great friendly moment with each other. Many would not believe but this is true story from Europe during World War I.

Europe tour packages

During World War I, on and around the Christmas Day in 1914, the War zone was roaring with sound of rifles. Amidst this war, there were a bunch of German soldiers who were in favor Christmas holiday celebrations. So they put down their weapons, left their trench and approached enemy lines across the No man’s land to wish them a “Merry Christmas”. At first the Allied soldiers thought this to be a trap, but after finding Germans to be unarmed, even they forgot the bloodshed and climbed out of their trenches to return the gesture. On this Christmas day, the sound of the bullets was replaced by the melody of Christmas carols. All across the front, soldiers from both sides forgot their disputes and met in the No man’s land to exchange Christmas presents of Cigarettes, plum puddings etc & some even like to believe that they played a match of soccer instead of a battle to decide the fate of the war. This is the most unique of events in the History of mankind when soldiers forgot four months of battle and embraced peace at least for a little while despite being clueless about the end of the war.

Europe packages

Informal truces were also agreed and used as an opportunity to facilitate some medical help to the injured & a proper funeral for the dead. However, the High Command feared the longer-term impact of such activity and issued strict orders to curb the Christmas Peace mutiny such as declaring an involvement as an act of treason. Yet for many at the time, the story of the Christmas truce was not only an example of bravery or humanity in the depth of war but also a tale of unity : when the men on the ground decided they were not fighting the same war as their superiors expected them. They realized that despite all the differences it was peace that they all craved for more than anything else in this world. The war continued for about four more years which took around deaths of 37 million civilians and military personnel.

During World War I, the soldiers on the Western Front did not expect to celebrate on the battlefield, but even a big war like this could not destroy the Christmas spirit. The onset of the First World War marked the true beginning of a new era and the Christmas Truce  is most certainly drew the final curtain on a dying age. The truces were not unique to the Christmas period, and reflected a growing mood of “Live and Let Live”. If this would have continued we would see no wars. So, big question is that it will continue today or not?

Your Europe tour would be incomplete without really knowing the great stories about the people of Europe.

“I would put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power!” said Thomas Alva Edison.

Truly said by Edison as solar energy is immortal and can be used in the best productive way. So is the belief of the Solar Impulse II, which has taken another stride in the league of great aeronautical firsts, the first Round-the-world solar flight. After 12 years of research, test and development, the Swiss have created a genuine airborne technology running on the Sun& proved to the world that solar energy can be used in unconventional ways too.

The first aircraft, bearing Swiss aircraft registration HB-SIA, is a single seat monoplane, capable of taking off under its own power, and designed to be able to stay airborne up to 36 hours.

The HB-SIA is primarily a prototype design. It has more than 17000 solar cells, collecting up to 340Wh of solar energy per day. The silicon cells are mounted on the wings, fuselage and horizontal tailplane, providing the best compromise between the lightness, flexibility and efficiency. Under the wing are four engines, each with set of lithium polymer batteries, a 10 h p motor and a twin-bladed propeller.. 11,628 photovoltaic cells on the upper wing surface and the horizontal stabilizer work to generate electricity during the day.  These both propel the plane and charge its batteries to allow flight at night.

International tour packages

On 26th June 2009, the Solar Impulse was first presented to the public at the dubendorf Air Base, Switzerland. Following testing, a short test was done on 3rd December 2009. On 7th April 2010, HB-SIA conducted an 87minute test flight. On 13th May 2011, HB-SIA landed Brussels Airport, after completing a 13-hour flight from its home base, in Switzerland. It was the first international flight by the solar impulse.

Due to the repair work of the aircraft’s main spar, the planes circumnavigation of the earth was rescheduled from 2012 to March 2015. The flight is expected to the circle the world in the northern hemisphere. The departure and arrival point are set to Abu Dhabi. The aircraft was delivered to Masdar in Abu Dhabi for the World Future Energy Summit in January 2015, and began it circumnavigation on 9th March 2015.

Andre Borschberg the Founder-CEO & Bertrand Piccard the chairman of Solar Impulse are the two Swiss pilots who are attempting to fly around the world in the solar powered plane. Borschberg mentioned “we chose to land in Ahmedabad because a lot of technology, research and products come from this part of the world.”  They decided to take a halt in Ahmedabad as Gujarat is one of the most industrialized states in India. Piccard said “Gujarat is a province of innovation”. Impressed by Gujarat’s leadership status in solar energy, they are likely to stay in the city for 3 days before leaving for Varanasi.

Especially considering the importance of clean and green energy, Piccard added “because it is clean energy it will save the environment, I want 1.2-billion Indians to support their campaign for the use of renewable energy for protecting the global environment, we need better research in renewable energy, better governance on international level, medical breakthroughs.”

Buy Euro for your European Tour

European countries.

There is a huge fluctuation in price of Euro in last 3 months. See the graph of Euro Vs INR.
Europe tour packages
SRC: Yahoo Finance

You will find that Euro price has gone down from the high of Rs. 81 Euro to Rs. 68 a Euro.
What is the reason for this downward trend.

European union consist of very rich countries like, Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, Norway etc.
Countries like Spain , Italy etc do not have but still sustainable economy.
Greece in which EU has a very weak economy.

Greece has a national deficit equivalent 12% of its GDP. To compensate that it held a debt of 318 Billion Euros, sponsored by its strong partners from the EU.

The strong partners have put conditions to restrict Greece from overspending on its public system and from providing extravagant social spending in order to crub the deficit for the country.

After the left wing Syriza party led by Mr. Alexis Tsipras won the election in January 2015.
Mr Tsipras has pledged to the nation that despite the deficit he will start and continue with the populist measures and give benefits to the citizen even at the cost of risking EU membership.

If that happens the deficit will not be controlled and that would increase the pressure on Germany-France and Scandinavian countries, since those are the countries which are financing the deficit for Greece.

They are taking a strong objection to Greeks spending money beyond its means. Greeks are not ready to stop spending even if that means them leaving EU.
All this has led to tremendous crisis of confidence in whole EU.

This has led to their currency going down to 20%. But, every problem has an end and a solution.

We believe, that some solution will be soon found and if that happen EURO will gain a lot and that is the reason we recommend buying a EURO for tours.
