Alaska is the largest U.S state. It is separated from U.S by Canada. Alaska shares an 800 kilometres border with Canada. It also shares a maritime border with Russia through the Bering Strait. It is broadly divided in six regions namely South Central Alaska, Alaska Panhandle (southeast Alaska), Southwest Alaska, Alaskan interiors, North Slope and Aleutian Island. Many active volcanoes are found in the Aleutian Islands.
Summer arrives in the mid-July to mid-September. This is the ideal time to be in Alaska. Spring comes in early June or May and autumn arrives in October. Winter is the most prominent season and the mercury can go as low as -51°C in some regions of Interior Alaska. Summers and other seasons are fairly mild but winters can be extremely cold. The best time to visit would ideally be from mid-May to mid-September.
