Our birthplace Stokmarknes is where Captain Richard With began The Coastal Express in 1893. Visit Hurtigrutemuseet, a ship-in-a-bottle building that chronicles our legacy, centred around retired ship MS Finnmarken from 1956. A ship-size fjord Sailing along Raftsund, the Captain may choose to take the ship into tiny Trollfjord. The mountain walls will look so close you’ll think you can reach out and brush them! To exit the fjord, the ship will rotate 180 degrees on the spot, then sail back out. Remember to look out for sea eagles here too. Last stop in Lofoten We reach Svolvær in the evening, the last stop on your voyage with us. The huge mountain that sits above the town is named the Svolvær Goat due to its supposed resemblance. Vigeland Sculpture Park - Entrance
Vigeland Sculpture Park - Entrance
The sculpture park is Gustav Vigeland's life work, comprising over 200 sculptures in granite, bronze and wrought iron. It was installed mainly in the period 1940-1949, but is nevertheless a result of over 40 years of work. The starting point for the park is Vigeland's Fountain, which was originally meant to be placed at Eidsvoll Plass in front of the Storting. These plans were never realized, and the Fountain later became part of Vigeland's more extensive park plans.
In 1924, the city council agreed that the sculptor's monumental Fountain was to be erected in Frogner Park. At that time, Vigeland's park project had expanded to include the Monolith and the Bridge.

Thor Heyerdahl is one of history’s most famous explorers. In 1947 he crossed the Pacific Ocean on the balsawood raft Kon-Tiki. This was his first expedition to be captured on film, and was later awarded Academy Award for best documentary in 1951. He later completed similar achievements with the reed boats Ra, Ra II and Tigris, through which he championed his deep involvement for both the environment and world peace. He was also responsible for important archeological excavations on the Galapagos Islands, Easter Island and in Túcume. The Kon-Tiki Museum exhibits objects from Heyerdahl’s world famous expeditions, the original Kon-Tiki raft, and the papyrus boat Ra II.
