Guided City Tour of Copenhagen
Explore Copenhagen with a private guide leading the way during this half-day walking tour. Set the pace for your individual tour and visit historical and cultural landmarks such as Town Hall Square and the Amalienborg palace. Get a thorough introduction to Copenhagen’s main attractions including Nyhavn, the Royal Theaters, and the Little Mermaid Statue.
Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital, sits on the coastal islands of Zealand and Amager. It’s linked to Malmo in southern Sweden by the Öresund Bridge. Indre By, the city's historic center, contains Frederiksstaden, an 18th-century rococo district, home to the royal family’s Amalienborg Palace. Nearby is Christiansborg Palace and the Renaissance-era Rosenborg Castle, surrounded by gardens and home to the crown jewels.
Copenhagen was once a Viking fishing settlement, and you can still find traces of those roots. But beyond the remains of a 1,000-year-old castle, museums dedicated to the famous raiders, and narrow streets slotted between picturesque canals, you’ll find that Copenhagen is a thoroughly modern—even futuristic—city. The Danish capital is home to design-focused hotels and cutting-edge art galleries. Fourteen Michelin-star restaurants prove that Copenhagen is reinventing Scandinavian food. And yes, the crayon-colored houses of Nyhavn, whimsical Tivoli Gardens, and a 120-year-old mermaid statue still draw visitors during the long summer days that bring 20 hours of sunlight. Want to fill those long days with more recs? We have ‘em below.

One Hour Canal Cruise
See the sights of Copenhagen from the water on a 1-hour canal cruise! Relax inside the lower saloon or out on deck, and admire the city’s key waterfront attractions like the Little Mermaid statue, Amalienborg Castle, Copenhagen Opera House and the Old Stock Exchange. Hear history about the city and its monuments from an onboard guide and discover fascinating neighborhoods like the Christianshavn canal quarter. Like a true fairy tale, the story of Canal Tours Copenhagen begins with "Once upon a time." Once upon a time, there was a bank manager, a captain, a former vice president, and a merchant who came together and had the idea for the original harbor cruise. The first boat started sailing in 1904 and operated as a water bus between Christianshavn and Copenhagen for shipyard workers and locals.
The original open boats had space for about 20 passengers, so in 1930 a series of boats were built with room for 80 passengers. The purpose of the harbor bus then shifted from being merely a means of transport to offering summer excursions in the harbor for both Copenhageners and visitors. In 1948, guided tours were introduced on the so-called Langelinie boats, which were equipped with loudspeakers so a guide could describe the sights along the way. The tours quickly became very popular among both Danes and tourists, and in the following years, both the business and the number of canal boats grew.
The fairy tale continues as our canal boats in Copenhagen are named after Hans Christian Andersen's beloved characters, such as The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Clumsy Hans, The Princess and the Pea, and The Little Mermaid, bringing a magical touch to each journe
