Earnslaw Lake Wakatipu Cruise and High Country Farm Experience

In New Zealand the third largest lake is Lake Wakatipu. Lake Wakatipu loads a deep valley carved into the mountains by ancient glaciers. Try to get the great views from Fernhill of an impressive trio - Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables. The lake dwells in a single, glacier-carved trench and is surrounded on all sides by tall mountains, the highest of which is Mount Earnslaw at 2819 meters. Because of its strange shape, Lake Wakatipu has a 'tide' or "standing wave", which sources the water to rise and fall about 10 centimeters every 25 minutes or so. Maori legend connects this phenomenon to the heartbeat of a huge monster named Matau, who is said to be sleeping beneath the lake.Lake Wakatipu presents year-round trout fishing at the mouths of the Greenstone. In summer, the lake's beaches are admired for swimming.
