Day wise travel itinerary

  • Day 1 :Leh

    Arrive at Kushok Bakula airport, Leh situated at 3500m altitude, meet & greet our representative at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Leh city. On arrival, check in at the hotel and take full-day at rest to acclimatize yourself completely to the high altitudes of Ladakh which is a must. Overnight stay at Leh. (D)

  • Day 2 :Leh - Indus Valley Tour - Leh (90 km round trip / 5-6 hours)

    After Breakfast , get all set for a full day tour of Indus Valley. The attractions that you visit today include the Royal Museum at Stok Palace- called the Stok Palace Museum, it offers an insight into the heritage of the region; Thiksey Monastery- belonging to the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism, this gompa is the largest monastery in central Ladakh region, Stagna Monastery- placed on a barren mountain top, the monastery offers nice views of the surrounding area, Changchubling monastery- better known as Hemis Monastery  it was erected in 1829 and is known for its high standards of monastic disciplines and the extremely well-known Hemis Monastery- India’s wealthiest monastery, Hemis is the biggest one too and the site of an annual festival. Overnight stay in Leh. (B, D)

  • Day 3 :Leh - Khardungla Top

    Today morning after breakfast  Proceed for Khardongla top (The Highest Motorable Road In The World) at 5,602 Mtrs / 18,390 Ft, around 39 km from Leh. From the pass, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif. Later return to the hotel for an overnight stay. (B, D)

  • Day 4 :Leh - Sham Valley Tour

    Today morning after breakfast, drive downstream along the River Indus on Leh – Kargil Highway. And start our sightseeing with Lamayuru Moonland Land scapes , Alchi monastery , Hall Of Fame (Museum Constructed by India Army) near Leh is worth a visit for every Indian, and proceed further to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib at an altitude of 3600 Mtrs about 22 Kms from Leh was constructed in memory of Guru Nanak Dev ji Nestled deep in the Himalayas, A drive of another 4 km took us to Magnetic Hill which defies the law of gravity. As you move ahead from Magnetic Hills, just before Nimmu Village, there comes a famous Confluence Of Two Rivers Indus River coming from Tibet (left) and Zanskar River coming from Zanskar Valley (right). Overnight at Leh (B, D)

  • Day 5 :Leh Local Sightseeing

    This morning after breakfast, proceed to visit Shanti Stupa built by Japanese monks to promote world peace. This large hilltop stupa has brightly colored reliefs on its mid-levels and is topped by a spired white hemisphere (smoking is prohibited here). Later visit Leh Palace, dilapidated yet interesting, which was built in the 17th century in the grand tradition of Tibetan architecture. Visit Ice Skating ring at Gupuks (Ice Skating can be hired on rent ) . Lastly visit the Leh Market for shopping. Overnight stay at Leh. (B, D)

Khardongla top

Khardung La pass is a gateway to some of the most enchanting and unexplored landscapes. This famed mountain pass is very popular amongst adventure seekers and regular tourists alike. Located in the Leh district of the Indian Union Territory, Khardung La is situated at an elevation of 5,359 meters.  It is hailed to be the highest motorable pass all across the globe. Historically speaking, Khardung La is quite significant as it lies on the major caravan route that links Leh to Kashgar in Central Asia.

During the second world war, an attempt to transfer war well to China was made through this route. Khardung La was constructed in the year 1976 and was made accessible to public motor vehicles in the year 1988. The pass is maintained by the Border Roads Organisation and is of great strategic importance as it is used to carry goods to the Siachen Glacier. 

Khardung La is located 39.7 Kms from Leh by road. It does not have an airport so you’ll have to take a flight to leh and from there you can board a taxi to reach Khardung La Pass. Here are few other options to reach Khardung La Pass From Leh.

The Shanti Stupa in Leh is a marvelous white-domed Buddhist monument nestled atop a steep hilltop at a dizzying height of 11,841 feet above sea level. It is a religious place for the Buddhists as it holds the relics of Buddha, dedicated by the 14th Dalai Lama. It is also very famous amongst tourists as it offers a stunning view of Leh and the nearby Changspa village. Shanti Stupa looks extraordinarily beautiful during the full moon night when it is naturally illuminated by the moonlight. It is at a distance of about 5 km drive by road from the Leh city or one can climb 500 steps to reach The Shanti Stupa. The location of Shanti Stupa is such that it is visible from all over Leh city.

Shanti Stupa was built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist - Bhikshu Gyomyo Nakamura. The construction was jointly done by the Japanese as well as Ladakhi Buddhists to mark the completion of 2500 years of Buddhism and to promote world peace. It is also part of the peace pagoda mission, which aims to spread peace through the preaching of Buddha. Shanti Stupa is a perfect getaway for both- those looking to obtain peace from offering prayers to God and those waiting to be mesmerized by nature's wondrous beauty.

The Leh Palace is a 17th-century former royal palace also known as 'Lhachen Palkhar,' and one of the central attractions in Leh. Constructed under assistance and support of by King Sengge Namgyal, it used to house his family. The 9-storey dun-coloured palace is now converted into a museum and a prayer room, while the highlight is the sweeping view of Leh and the surrounding Zanskar mountain from the rooftop.

The Leh Palace is designed and inspired by the Potala Palace in Lhasa (Tibet), and a considerable part is now in ruins due to the Kashmiri invasion that took place in the 19th century. The beauty of the Leh Palace still stands in pride with a several ancient Buddha relics, old utensils, paintings, cutlery used by the royal family and artefacts embellishing the walls, most of which are around 450 years old. 

The palace looks even more mesmerizing when it is lighted upon certain special occasions, such as Galdam Namchot festival when locals gather around the palace to celebrate and enjoy the local festival. The majestic palace is presently under the Archaeological Survey of India, which is working on renovating the ancient structures of that era and trying to keep intact the history of the Namgyal dynasty in Leh.

Since the land resembles that of moon, Moon land near Lamayuru in Ladakh region is fondly called like that. A unique geographical feature appearing here attracts thousands of visitors every year. A traveler comes to Lamayuru will not miss the surprising land. There is also a saying that during full moon, the land becomes exotic and it would be an enchanting sight to behold and rare too. Lamayuru’s fame was dashingly enhanced because of this landscape carved in to the Greater Himalayan ranges. Interested travelers will come to Lamayuru which is located at a distance of 100 kms from Leh on the famous Leh-Srinagar Higway. 

To watch the glimpses of the moon land so clear and closer, you can climb up to the Meditation Hill in Lamayuru. The monks from Lamayuru gompa are living in this hill, at a greater height. The rough, uneven landscape of Moon land will be an amusing sight from the top of the Meditation Hill. The entire Lamayuru becomes visible from the top. One will come to know why Lamayuru and Moonland are heard as synonyms for each other and the natives here find Moon land as an inevitable part of their lives also.

Nestled at around 4 kms from Leh town on the Leh - Kargil Road, the Hall of Fame is a museum which was constructed in memory of the brave soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the motherland India at the India-Pakistan war.

As you pass through the OP Vijay Gallery, the museum showcases arms and amenities of Pakistani Army which were seized, along with pictures and biographies of brave soldiers who fought in that war. A section of the museum also exhibit Siachen area, exhibiting apparel and amenities used by the Indian Army in the region. The letters written by soldiers to their families, photographs clicked during wars fought in the region and a 30 minutes documentary on the Kargil War, are some of the highlights.  Apart from this, one can also witness items related to Local Ladakhi culture, their history, vegetation and wildlife found across the globe.

The famous Magnetic / Gravity Hill of Ladakh is a cyclops hill where vehicles go against the force of gravity and move upwards on the hill when parked at the marked location. To experience this curious, park the car in neutral gear in the yellow marked box a few meters ahead of the Magnetic Hill road. From this point, the car starts moving at a speed of around 20 km/h.

Even though there are some folklore regarding the mysterious magnetic hill, the fact is that the layout of the area and the surrounding hills give it an optical illusion. The downhill road appears to be an uphill road which leads to the car slowly and gradually gain momentum which appears to be going uphill against gravity when infect it is rolling downhill.

The Myth behind the Mystery of Magnetic Hill
We live in a strange world where sometimes there is no logical explanation of beliefs and illusions. It is believed that the hill has superpowers that transport the worthy to heaven. However, there is not one but two conceivable scientific explanations behind this majestic magnetic hill. 

The hill lies at a distance of around 30 kms from the town of Leh on the Leh - Kargil highway, at an elevation of around 4,260 mts feet above sea level. It is one of the major tourist attractions and an must do experience for all those who travel to Ladakh. An optical illusion or actuality, the Magnetic Hill in Ladakh has mysterious magnetic properties that attracts tourists from across the globe.
