Day wise travel itinerary

  • Day 1 :Arrive at Leh

    Arrive Leh in the morning at Kushok Bakula Rinpocher KBR terminal 3550m, met by our representative, greet, assist and transfer to your Hotel in Leh city 5/10 min drive. Welcome tea on arrival and take a full day at rest for acclimatization to the high altitude of Leh.Late afternoon tour briefing at the hotel lobby. Later in the evening around 4 pm visit Shanti stupa – a white peace pagoda atlow-lyinglying hill overlooking Leh town, built by Japanese Buddhist Missionaries it symbolizes to spread of the teachings of Lord Buddha for world peace and Human compassion. Later members can take a short walk in Leh main market and then walk back to Singge Palace hotel which is just close to the Main bazaar 5 min walk.  Dinner and overnight.

  • Day 2 :Leh - Temisgam - Uleytoko

    In the morning drive down the Indus Valley on a tour of Sham Valley. On the way photostop at the sangam of Indus & zanskar river. Later we arrive at Alchi and explore the magnificent wall paintings. Thereafter we head-on to Temisgam village which is a Apricot rich village and visit the Nunnery for a special tea with the Nuns of the village in their garden. Lunch at hotel Namra. We drive back and checkin at Ulleytokpo at one of the resorts perched atop on the banks of Indus River. Relax at the cool environs, guest can go for walk around. Overnight at Ulleytokpo.

  • Day 3 :Uleytoko - Stok

    After breakfast drive towards Stok village 115 kms, enroute stop at Magnetic Hill which is believed to have some sort of anti -gravity pull. Later we cross Indus River and drive to Stok village on the foothills of the famous Stok Kangri Glacier peaks. Before we checkin at the hotel in Stok we visit Stok Palace which is the current seat of the Raja of Ladakh. Palace houses an interesting museum displaying Royal Artefacts , Jewellery amongst others. Later we checkin at the hotel.Freshen up and short drive upto Gyabthago Heritage Home where we shall try home cooked Local Lunch prepared by the family. Thereafter a short walk till the stream and then drive to visit Buddha Point, a giant statue of Lord Buddha. Evening relax at the hotel and overnight.

  • Day 4 :Stok - Nubra Valley

    Morning drive to Nubra Valley 145km crossing Khardongla Pass 18360 ft, the world highest motorable pass. Enroute we stop for permit check at South Pulu police checkpost 20 kms from Leh. On reaching the pass members can take a very short 5 min stop at the pass. After crossing the pass members can take a short lunch stop at Khardong or koksar village. On arrival in Nubra valley we shall visit Diskit Monastery along with the 110ft tall Maitreya Buddha statue. Then we drive further and checkin at hotel Karma Inn. Later in the evening we shall visit the silvery sand dunes at Hunder where perhaps a Double humped Camel Safari (on direct payment) cud be interesting. Overnight at hotel in Nubra.

  • Day 5 :Nubra Valley - Pangong

    Morning after leisure breakfast we drive to Pangong via Shayok river valley 170 kms / 5-6 hrs driving past Shayok village, Durbuk and Tangtse villages. Arrive by noon and checkin at the camp. Later explore Pangong Lake, Pangong lake is perhaps one of the most amazing lakes in Asia which changes its color 4 – 5 times a day. Explore the lake area, parts of the lake in April could still be frozen. Members can enjoy some hot tea on small local restaurants at the lake area,

  • Day 6 :Pangong - Leh

    Early morning we drive back to Leh via chang la pass 17500ft 4-5 hrs, On the way visit Thiksey Monasteries.  Back to Leh by later afternoon and free for shopping. Overnight at the hotel.

    Morning on time transfer to KBR airport Leh with your sweet memories ( transfer time will be 2 hours before departure of your flight).

The famous Magnetic / Gravity Hill of Ladakh is a cyclops hill where vehicles go against the force of gravity and move upwards on the hill when parked at the marked location. To experience this curious, park the car in neutral gear in the yellow marked box a few meters ahead of the Magnetic Hill road. From this point, the car starts moving at a speed of around 20 km/h.

Even though there are some folklore regarding the mysterious magnetic hill, the fact is that the layout of the area and the surrounding hills give it an optical illusion. The downhill road appears to be an uphill road which leads to the car slowly and gradually gain momentum which appears to be going uphill against gravity when infect it is rolling downhill.

The Myth behind the Mystery of Magnetic Hill
We live in a strange world where sometimes there is no logical explanation of beliefs and illusions. It is believed that the hill has superpowers that transport the worthy to heaven. However, there is not one but two conceivable scientific explanations behind this majestic magnetic hill. 

The hill lies at a distance of around 30 kms from the town of Leh on the Leh - Kargil highway, at an elevation of around 4,260 mts feet above sea level. It is one of the major tourist attractions and an must do experience for all those who travel to Ladakh. An optical illusion or actuality, the Magnetic Hill in Ladakh has mysterious magnetic properties that attracts tourists from across the globe.

Gurudwara Pathar Sahib is a beautiful gurudwara, dedicated to Guru Nanak Dev ji founder of the Sikh religion. It is nestled 25 kms from Leh on Leh-Kargil road. The gurudwara is highly admired as it houses a rock which resembles Guru Nanak's back. It is constructed at the site where he is believed to have conquered a demon. The gurudwara is taken care and looked after by the lamas and the Indian army.

According to Legends in the 15th century, Guru Nanak meditating at this place at this place which was dominated by a demon. When the locals sought his help, the demon threw a boulder towards Guru Nanak to obstruct his prayers but that turned into soft wax that failed to harm him, seeing this the demon asked for penance for his deed and Guru Nanak ji forgave him. The boulder with the imprint of the body of Guru Nanak Dev and the footprint of the demon is on display in Gurdwara Pathar Sahib. This rock is now worshipped at Gurudwara Pathar Sahib. Most of the vehicles stop here and pay their respects before continuing on their journey ahead.

The Shanti Stupa in Leh is a marvelous white-domed Buddhist monument nestled atop a steep hilltop at a dizzying height of 11,841 feet above sea level. It is a religious place for the Buddhists as it holds the relics of Buddha, dedicated by the 14th Dalai Lama. It is also very famous amongst tourists as it offers a stunning view of Leh and the nearby Changspa village. Shanti Stupa looks extraordinarily beautiful during the full moon night when it is naturally illuminated by the moonlight. It is at a distance of about 5 km drive by road from the Leh city or one can climb 500 steps to reach The Shanti Stupa. The location of Shanti Stupa is such that it is visible from all over Leh city.

Shanti Stupa was built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist - Bhikshu Gyomyo Nakamura. The construction was jointly done by the Japanese as well as Ladakhi Buddhists to mark the completion of 2500 years of Buddhism and to promote world peace. It is also part of the peace pagoda mission, which aims to spread peace through the preaching of Buddha. Shanti Stupa is a perfect getaway for both- those looking to obtain peace from offering prayers to God and those waiting to be mesmerized by nature's wondrous beauty.

Thiksey Monastery is a tibetan-style monastery nestled 20 kms south of Leh on Leh-Manali highway, constructed in 1430 AD belongs to the Gelukpa Order of Buddhism. The 12 Storey monastery is situated on top of a hill, giving stunning views of the town as well as the Indus valley below. The main attraction of Thiksey is the Maitreya Temple which houses a 15-metre high Maitreya Buddha statue. It is the largest such statue in Ladakh and it covers 2 stories of the building. Thiksey Gompa hosts the Gustor ritual, organized from the 17th - 19th of September month.

Thiksey consists of various white buildings that are arranged in hierarchical order, which stand out against the rocky golden brown hills. It reflects the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. Thiksey consists of 10 temples and is currently home to more than 100 monks. The monastery houses Buddhist stupas, swords, thangkas, wall paintings and statues. Other main attractions at Thiksey are Tara Temple, Assemnly Hall, Lamokhang Temple, Nunnery, Library and the rooftop.
