Wat Phra That Doi Suthep + Meo Hill Tribe Village

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is one of the holiest temples in northern Thailand, and its founding legend has been learned by the teacher of each school in Chiang Mai. It is a beautiful example of Via Northern Thai architecture, reached via a 306 staircase run by the Nagas (mythical sea serpents). The purpose of the ascent is to help devotees attain Buddhist qualifications.

The monastery was founded in 1383 by King Keu Naone to ensure a piece of bone that descended from the shoulder of the Buddha. Bone was brought to Lanna by a wandering monk of Sukhothai and it broke into two pieces at the base of the mountain, one of which was placed on the Wat Suan dock. The second piece was placed on a sacred white elephant, which wandered in the forest until it died, in the process of choosing the place where the monastery was later founded.

The steps lead to the inner terrace, where a walkway transmits the gleaming golden chedi looking at the remains. The five-tier umbrella signifies the city's independence from Burma and its union with Thailand. Pilgrims queue at temples around Chedi to leave lotus flowers and other offerings, which are adorned with amazing poses and materials with Buddha statues.

Within the monastery complex, the Doi Suthep Vipassana Meditation Center conducts various religious outreach programs for visitors.

Meo Hill Tribe Village - While the White Meo hill tribe town is industrially arranged, it is still sensibly legitimate and emotional with its excellent nurseries, small strolling trails meandering down into the precarious chasm underneath, and falls of water funnelled through bamboo.
