The fishing net established itself on the Kochi shores between 1350 and 1450 AD.</p><p>The Chinese Fishing Nets at Fort Kochi is a must visit attraction in Kerala.&nbsp;These are fixed land installations, used for fishing in a unique method.&nbsp;These nets are fixed on bamboo and teak poles holding it horizontally by huge mechanisms so as to pull them down into the sea.&nbsp;These nets are weighed by large stones tied to ropes.&nbsp;Operated by a team of six fishermen, the height of the Chinese fishing nets is around 10 meters, each sprawling to 20 meters over the water body.&nbsp;Each net has a fixed operating depth and due to this a net cannot be repeatedly worked in tidal waters.&nbsp;There are different fishing nets for operation which are based on the state of the tide.&nbsp;</p><p>The sight of the Chinese nets, suspended in mid air and standing in line on the beaches, when silhouetted against the sunset is breathtakingly beautiful. This determines the colours used in the make-up. The faces of noble male characters, such as virtuous kings, the divine hero Rama, etc., are predominantly green. Extremely angry or excessively evil characters wear predominantly red make-up and a flowing red beard. Forest dwellers such as hunters are represented with a predominantly black make-up base. It is a popular picnic spot for the locals. And it is also a scenic tourist destination.</p><p>The ideal time to visit Blossom International Park Munnar is from November to March. The temperature is cool and pleasant. And you can roam as much as you want or enjoy activities. The evening is the best to enjoy this park. It was built on the land, adjacent to the Mattancherry Palace, given by the erstwhile king of Cochin. Its also known as Paradesi Synagogue.&nbsp;The word Paradesi means foreigner in many Indian languages. It refers to the White Jews -&nbsp; A mixture of Jews from Kodungalloor, Middle East and Europe.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><br></span></div><div style="text-align: justify; "><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">The synagogue, the oldest in the Commonwealth, was built by the Jewish community of Cochin. In 1662, it was destroyed by the Portguese and then reconstructed, two years later, by the Dutch.</span></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;The large main hall of the synagogue catches the attention of&nbsp; rare antique objects . The light falling through the large open windows make the sight of chandeliers and lamps more delightful. These glass chandeliers dangling from the ceiling belong to the 19th century and were imported from Belgium.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The ceramic tiles on the floor were brought from Canton, China in the 18th century by Ezekiel Rahabi, a renowned Jewish businessman.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Each tile is different from one another in its design and it never fails to capture the admiration of the visitors. The marvellous construction of the synagogue is revealed in all its features including the splendid pillars.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">There is an exclusive gallery for women. Two gold crowns presented to the Jewish Community by the Kings of Kochi and Travancore are also kept here. Another valuable possession of the synagogue is the copper plates belonging to the 4th century with inscriptions in Malayalam. The inscriptions describe the privileges granted to the community by the erstwhile Cochin king. It is written in kannadiyezhuthu script or mirror image writing. An oriental rug gifted to the Jews by the last Ethiopian Emperor, Haile Selassie is also kept in the synagogue.</div><div style="text-align: justify; "><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Due to the dwindling number of Jews in Kochi, it is difficult to complete a minyan - the number of men needed to sustain a synagogue). <p style="margin-bottom: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">About 20 km from Munnar, Kundala Dam is a picturesque tourist destination. The dam is built on the Periyar River, and is surrounded by a green Western Ghat mountain range. The area also has cherry blossom trees, which flower twice a year, which adds to the beauty of the place. And if you are lucky, you can also see the bright purple cover of blue Kurunji flowers on the hills. Those flowers bloom only once in 12 years.&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">The nearby Kundala lake also provides an unforgettable experience to tourists. You can board a pedal boat or a boat to explore the lake and enjoy the scenery. <div style="text-align: justify;">Eravikulam National Park is located in the South Western Ghats near Idukki, Kerala. The name Eravikulam translates to streams and pools, which best describe the national park. The area of the park was managed as a sport preservation until 1978 when the Kerala government elevated the status of a national park.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The area of the park is now home to the highly endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Eravikulam National Park is spread over an area of 92 square kilometres and is surrounded by high altitude grasslands.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The main natural structure of the national park is a central rolling plateau that is 2000 meters above sea level. The park is full of undulating terrain and the highest peak of the region is Anamudi at a distance of 2695 meters.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The three major types of vegetation in the region include grasslands, shrubs and shola forests. The high plateaus and hills surrounding the park are mainly covered by grasslands, while the bush is more visible along the base of the shrubs. Shola forests are situated in valleys between hills and plateaus. The Turner's Valley is the deepest valley in the region and broadly divides the park into two parts: the northwest and southwest regions.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The period between September to October (end of monsoon) and then April to May (summer) is the best time to plan your visit to Eravikulam National Park. This is the ideal period to see the Nilgiri Tahr and full blooming grasslands.
