Take a journey below and behind the heart of Niagara and stand in the mist where the water of the mighty Horseshoe Falls tumbles from 13 storeys above. At Journey Behind the Falls you’ll experience the awesome spectacle of one fifth of the world’s fresh water crashing down to the basin below.
Observe the thrilling power of nature at close quarters with this year-round attraction that affords astonishing views of Niagara Falls from below and behind. Descend deep below ground in a lift and then walk along a tunnel to get access to two outdoor observation decks and two portals located directly behind the falls. During summer daylight hours more 2,800 cubic metres of water thunder over the brink every second, travelling at 65km/h. Nowhere can you get a more vivid sense of what this means than standing almost within touching distance as the heaving torrents come crashing down about your ears.
In winter, the falls present a radically different but equally spectacular picture – huge sheets of ice and stunning icicles make up a dramatic frozen landscape. Your visit to Skylon Tower begins with the 'Ride to the Top' in the glass-enclosed exterior elevator, which provides a smooth, 52-second trip to the expansive indoor and outdoor observation deck.
Take in the aerial views of Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, Great Gorge, and the Niagara River from the top of the tower, the region's tallest free-standing structure. You can also spot the Niagara wine region and the skyscrapers of Toronto and Buffalo on a clear day, when the view extends beyond 77 miles (125 km).

Niagara on the lake
Niagara-on-the-Lake is a town in southern Ontario. It sits on the shores of Lake Ontario, at the mouth of the Niagara River. It's known for its wineries and the summer Shaw Festival, a series of theatre productions. The flower-filled, tree-lined old town features 19th-century buildings, mainly along Queen Street. Near the river, 19th-century Fort George was built by the British to defend against American attacks.
