Kikuseidai view from top of Mt Roko

“Kikuseidai” is an observation deck established in Mt. Roko in Nada Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. It is located at an altitude of about 700 meters, but you can climb easily by connecting Cable car or Ropeway. From the top of the mountain, you can see Port Island, Rokko Island, Osaka Bay and Wakayama on the opposite bank, as well as the Keihanshin Metropolitan area. In the evening you can enjoy the night view of Kobe which can be mentioned as one of Japan’s three biggest night views.

Kikuseidai literally means to “scoop up the stars”, and it was named as such because of its height – the fact visitors felt that they were so high they could almost “scoop up” the stars for themselves. Kikuseidai Platform, also well-known as the finishing point for those who hike up Mt. Roko, has a cool temperature throughout the year.

You can see a magnificent panoramic night view with the sparkling lights of Kobe. This superb view is so beautiful as if you were looking into a jewelry box that it is called “ten million dollar night view.” It is a recommended spot for a couple to have a date.
