It is a shrine built in the north-west region of Kyoto over 1000 years ago. The shrine was built during 947 A.D. by the emperor of the time in the honour of Sugawara. He is known as the god of agriculture, god of honesty and sincerity, god of false accusations, and the god of performing arts, god of academics. Kitano Tenmangu is the 1st shrine in the Japanese history. Till today many students pray for passing score in examination and persons who wish for the improvement of their abilities come here to visit.
