Festivals and Events to Enjoy in Your Singapore Trip

Singapore holds many exciting festivals and celebrations throughout the year that draws tourists from all over the world. Whether it is the pomp and glory of Singapore’s National Day or the roar of the Formula 1 racing cars, there’s always a happening event going on around the island nation. Here’s a list of the few festivals of Singapore to fall in love with.

The Chinese New Year: Also known as the Spring Festival, the first day of Chinese New Year falls on the new moon day every year in the middle of January. The festival continues for fourteen days during which people clean their homes with the belief that it helps them get rid of bad or ill fortunes and brings good luck.

Lantern Festival: The Lantern Festival is held on the fifteenth day of the Chinese New Year and marks the last day of the celebrations. You will find many simple and traditional paper lanterns that are lit and released into the sky. The festival can be best enjoyed in Chinatown along with the Moonfest Chinese Arts Festival and delicious mooncakes.

Zhonxao Festival: The Zhongxao Festival or the Dragon Boat Festival originated thousands of years ago and is a popular cultural festival of China. As it falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar, it is also known as the Double Fifth Festival. Dragon boat races are organized all over the world by Chinese communities, and in Singapore, you can catch the action in the Bedok Reservoir and DBS Marina Regatta.

Singapore National Day: The National Day of Singapore is celebrated every year on the 9th of August with parades, choreographed dances and the stunning display of fireworks at the Marina Bay. This day emphasizes the pride that Singaporeans take in their people and their nation.

Hungry Ghost Festival: Popular among the Buddhists and Taoists, the Hungry Ghost Festival is celebrated on the 15th night of the 7th month of the Chinese calendar. People believe that the ghosts of their ancestors come out from the lower realms to meet their family. During the festival, people visit their ancestors’ graves to offer their food and other items for their materialistic needs in their afterlives.

International Festival of Arts: The International Festival of Arts is a whole month of celebration for artists and individuals who understand, enjoy and appreciate art. Many shows, events, and performances are held to celebrate the diverse range of art forms on one platform.

Singapore Food Festival: You can indulge in the Singapore Food Festival to try out the authentic local food as well as different cuisines from the world. Usually, the festival is held at the end of June until the end of July and offers many cooking workshops for hands-on learning.

Singapore Grand Prix: Singapore is the perfect place to be during the Grand Prix Season if you want to experience the thrill and the rush. During September, Formula 1 race championship takes place through the city, post which many concerts and parties are held.

Excellent Arrangements Made By FlaminGo

At the outset on my behalf and on behalf of my 3 other co-travelers, i thank you very much for the excellent arrangements made by you under the auspices of Flamingo Travels for our recent travel to Leh, Nubra Valley, and Pangong Lake.

All the Hotels were very hospitable, caring, and full of comfort. The food was excellent and delicious. In particular, our experience at The Indus Valley Hotel was par excellent. The staff was so professionally trained, caring to the minutest details, ever-smiling, every co-operative. The rooms were also very cosy and comfortable. The thing is that for the first two day's stay two different grades of rooms were given which on our request they corrected by giving both deluxe rooms side by side during second time visit.

The Hunder Resort had one peculiarity that they provide just one bottle of water per room (between two pax) per day. And general medical advice is to drink a lot of water. You may ask your new guests to carry one crate of water bottles with them from day one to avoid such small inconveniences. When asked why so, the manager shifted the blame to hard negotiations by Flamingo Travels - which was a silly excuse by them.

You advised us to visit Turtuk with enough food. we visited and insist that you suggest to those who can do little tracking of about 30 minutes to visit Tyaksi which is further ~ 5 Kms. away from Turtuk. It is an experience to view Indian Bunkers at quite some height on steep mountains after a track as aforesaid. it fills one with a sense of gratitude and pride for our protector Jawans.

At Pangong Lake, we got to stay just in front of the Lake which was so satisfying and thrilling. We suggest that you advise your other clients to visit the lake in the early morning the next day - especially the sunrise. They would cherish it for times to come.

And the transport services were just marvellous. On the third morning, the vehicle did not come at the appointed time and when contacted, we were told that soon after reaching the hotel, the driver noticed brake oil leakage and so the delay. they provided us with a new vehicle which was much better and the Driver - Sevag was the icing on the cake. He was so agile, courteous, swift, joyous, knowledgeable and always at our service.

You may like to advise your clients to skip visit to Rancho School which is just a waste of time and energy.

Cannot resist the temptation to suggest that you should ask your clients to buy some homoeopathic remedies from a store called "Jashoda Homoe Store" in basement opp. Medilink, Satellite. The medicines especially for Leh dispensed by Mr Manish were so useful not only to us but to other friends who happened to be there, that it made our travel so comfortable. It proved much efficacious than allopathic ones. This is just a suggestion.

Besides, someone had advised us to carry "activated charcoal warmers" available at Romano Store on C G Road which we did. At Pangong Lake at night, we just opened the same, shook it 5-6 times and wore it on the chest. it gave warmth for about 8 to 10 hours. This is indispensable. Per piece cost is Rs. 100. It is just use and throw kind of thing. and does not take much space.

Once again thank you and Flamingo a million for the best ever arrangements made for us.
