Discover UNESCO Classified Jatiluwih Rice Terrace
Jatiluwih rice terrace in Bali is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. When you come there, you will enjoy the nuance of rural area. With peace, fresh, and tranquility, the atmosphere is so different than the city, which is full with hustle and traffic. Jatiluwih becomes a choice for those who want to get rid of stress on mind. The rice terrace itself doesn’t have any history since Jatiluwih is a stretch of paddy field. Balinese people apply ‘subak’ to their field. Subak is an irrigation system that has been used from generation to generation.
As traditional culture, Subak has a temple, which was built to be dedicated to Goddess of Prosperity and Goddess of Fertility. In addition, Subak is based on culture, and that is why people who live in Jatiluwih respect it as the irrigation system keeps togetherness. The leader of Subak has to be wise to apply this system since the area of Jatiluwih Rice Terrace is wide around 636 hectares. As you visit this place, the natural panorama will accompany you along the street. Fresh air and breezing wind atJatiluwih makes the atmosphere more refreshing.
Jatiluwih Rice Terrace is located at Penebel Sub-district, Tabanan Regency, Bali, Indonesia, and can be reached from the city around 48 km from Denpasar City and 25 km from Tabanan City. Jatiluwih itself is situated at the range of mountain, about 700 meters above sea level.
