Capri, a small island made of limestone carved with steep cliffs and caves, has been considered for centuries as a gem of the Mediterranean Sea.
In historical times the island has been occupied by Greeks, Romans, Western and Eastern emperors, as well as pirates and tyrants. Traces of these occupants are still visible at present. In the latter half of the 19th century, Capri became a popular resort for European artists, writers and other celebrities.
Starts between 8 and 9 am (see timetable). Duration: approx. 8 hours
This tour will take you to Anacapri by local minibus, where you can enjoy a magic view from the belvedere. Here stand the remains of Castello Barbarossa named after the pirate and Ottoman admiral, Hayreddin, nicknamed Barbarossa ("Redbeard"). From 1898, it was owned by the Swedish psychiatrist Axel Munthe (later donated to his foundation). Munthe was against hunting and turned the surrounding area as a sanctuary for birds (ornithological station). Lunch break to a local restaurant. Stroll along the lively alleys neighboring the Piazzetta in Capri and don’t miss the view of the Faraglioni sea stacks from the Augustus’ gardens! If you are willing to visit the Blue Grotto or attend other excursions on your own on the island, please coordinate your plans with your guide.
The tour manager will meet you up by the nearest pick up point to your accommodation between 8 and 9 am (see timetable) and will take you to the harbor where you will board the hydrofoil with your fellow passengers. Tickets will be purchased before departure with the assistance of the tour leader (hydrofoil fee not included in this quote). Once in Capri, you will be taken around the main attractions of this small and loved island. Minibus from Capri harbor to Anacapri, from here to Capri and back to the harbor. Lunch break to a local restaurant. In the afternoon, return to Naples and drop off to your same location.
