Best time to visit in Venice

Venice's best travel months, consequently also its busiest and most expensive are April, May, June, September, and October. Summer in Venice (July and August) is more temperate than in Italy's hot inland cities with temperatures ranging between 24 and 27 °C. Spring and fall are usually cool and many hotels are not allowed to use heaters until winter sets in; this is in the national interest of saving energy. During off season, Venice can be explored without stress and sweat – visiting during late spring often means lesser crowds but also less clear skies. One can enjoy Venice between November and March characterized by mild winter weather, lower prices and fewer tourists. The exception here is the Carnevale usually held in February when hotel prices shoot up – it’s a grand party including concerts, feasts and dancing. The things to keep in mind during off season are to expect occasional flooding and beware of early closing of most sights to be seen.
