Eilean Donan Castle

One of the most iconic attractions in Scotland Eilean Donan is located in western highlands of Scotland. The castle is surrounded by some majestic scenery. Although first occupied around the 6th century, the primary sustained castle was worked in the mid-13th century and stood guard over the terrains of Kintail. From that point forward, no less than four unique adaptations of the castle have been fabricated and re-worked as the medieval history of Scotland unfolded as the centuries progressed. Halfway demolished in a Jacobite uprising in 1719, Eilean Donan lay in remains for the best piece of 200 years until Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap purchased the island in 1911 and continued to reestablish the castle to its previous wonder. Following 20 years of work and labor the castle was re-opened in 1932. You can explore almost every part of the castle and know all about the history of the specific area.
