A Brief Introduction to Australia and New Zealand
Australia, the only region that’s a country, continent, as well as island, blends in the sophistication of modern cities and the ruggedness of outdoors beautifully. It’s the sixth largest country in the world and is situated in the Southern Hemisphere with the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean on either ends. Although it looks small on the map, there’s plenty to see in Australia. Apart from a rich biodiversity, Australia also offers natural rain forests, gorgeous beaches, huge desert expanses, vibrant coral reefs, and others.

While the major part of Australia comprises of a desert plateau, the southeast comprises of fertile plains. This leads to an arid to semi-arid climate in the south temperate in the east, and tropical in the north. So the north becomes hot and humid in summer and warm and dry in winter, while the south experiences cooler summers and rainy winters.

Located in the south west corner of the Pacific Ocean, New Zealand is a small island country consisting of two main islands, North Island and South Island, and other small islands. It has lush landscapes, beautiful coastlines, and lofty mountains. Mt. Cook, a volcanic mountain, is the highest one in South Islands. New Zealand is the land of indigenous Maori people, unending vistas of breathtaking landscapes, and amazing adventure sports options. Any Lord of the Rings fan will tell you about the magical beauty of Middle Earth.

Although New Zealand has a temperate climate, it experiences some extremes in temperatures. So Southern Islands may receive temperatures as low as -10 degrees in winter.  However, since New Zealand has a long coastline, it has mild temperatures so you can visit many of the destinations without a worry.

Best Time to Visit Australia - New Zealand
The best time to visit Australia and New Zealand depends on where you are planning to visit and what experiences you are planning on having. To find an optimum climate while exploring both the countries, you can travel anytime between December to February.

In case you’re planning an Australia New Zealand tour, there’s good news for you. More and more Indians are travelling to this paradise on the Pacific Ocean in seek of adventure. If you too want to experience an adventurous outing, then you can choose any of our Australia and New Zealand tours.

Things to Remember While Planning a Trip to Australia and New Zealand
You may want to cover both Australia and New Zealand since they’re pretty close and, let’s face it, flights from India can be long and expensive. It’s a good idea to divide the time between both of them so that you can maximise your sightseeing in both places. Here are a few points to keep in mind while planning your trip
● They’re quite big - Australia and New Zealand may look small on the map but are quite big in size. For example, a flight from Sydney to Auckland itself takes around 3 hours. So plan to spend the most time sightseeing rather than travelling from one place to another.

Be aware of the formalities - Can’t wait to enjoy the Barrier Reef or begin your South Island road trip? There are some formalities before you reach there. For example, you need to have a ticket out of New Zealand before you can board a plane into the country. Again, you will need an e-visa before you can enter Australia.

● How much time do you want to spend - You need a minimum of 2 weeks to enjoy both the countries to the maximum. Flamingo Travels’ Australia and New Zealand tour sensure that you can cover all the important places and yet not feel rushed.

● When do you want to go - Since there is a lot to see in both places, it’s important that you decide when you want to go since the places you’ll visit will depend on that. For example, if you’re planning on enjoying South Australia, you can enjoy the sunny weather and blue skies from December to March. You can club in New Zealand in October or November to enjoy warm weather there too.

● How much do you want to travel - There are several flight options between New Zealand and Australia. You can plan in such a way so as to reduce your time catching flights or travelling. If you’re booking an Australia and New Zealand package from Indiawith us, we’ll take care of all the details so you won’t have to worry.

● Where do you plan to go - There’s plenty to see in both Australia and New Zealand so you’ll have to choose what you really want to explore and experience to find the best option for yourself. For example, some are interested in the rugged monolith of Uluru while some are fascinated by The Great Barrier Reef. Again while some love the classic South Island road trip in New Zealand, some want to explore the marine life in Kaikoura.

That is why we have chosen the best destinations in our itinerary so that you can explore these two gems in the Pacific Ocean to your heart’s fill. Let’s look at the iconic places to visit in Australia and New Zealand.

I Think It Was Once In A Lifetime Experience

Our family has travelled to about 36 countries together, but I think this was one of the top 2 trips we have ever had. Our hotels were chosen perfectly for our needs and it suited our requirements. Despite the drop in tourism in Sri Lanka, Nupur (Our Flamingo Associate) made sure that I felt comfortable enough to be able to go on this trip. I would like to personally thank her for making sure that I didn't say no to this trip.

The hotels were beautiful at all locations, we had no problems at all but the best hotel was  Anantara Dhigu Maldives. It was a perfect recommendation and I think it was once in a lifetime experience. That hotel left a lifelong impact on us. It was a slice of heaven. Amazing service and rooms. Our villa had a staircase leading to the ocean.

Apart from the stays, I would also like to mention that the food was brilliant at all places and we have faced no problems anywhere. The driver/guide in Sri Lanka, recommended by Sri Lanka made us feel like we were a part of his family. We will always be his friends. His wife specially made some home-made spring rolls for us and proved to be a cherry on the top of the cake. We had the luxury minibus travel with us everywhere which had maps of Sri Lanka, history of Sri Lanka on private TV and the most scenic views on the rides. Our guide stopped for coconuts, mangoes at all places and knew all the stuff so well that we felt home in Sri Lanka.

The best part of this experience was that the Flamingo tour didn't really feel like a tour. It gave us the independence to choose our itineraries according to our preferences, but we also felt like it was personally-tailored to our requirements. Thanks for choosing the best amenities for us.

We will definitely travel with Flamingo again. 5/5.
