With more than two decades of travel experience, I have realized that some places offer more than just a trip—they create unforgettable experiences. My recent visit to Georgia, with my friend Meghna, was one such journey that changed how I see travel. When I got the chance to explore this unique country, I expected a regular work trip. But what followed was a captivating adventure full of discoveries, surprises, and connections that changed my perceptions.
When I first heard about Georgia, I was unsure what to expect. I had read about its rugged mountains, ancient towns, and rich culture, but it wasn’t until I stepped off the plane in Tbilisi that I truly understood the magic of this incredible country. Georgia is a place where adventure, history, and nature blend in a way that feels refreshingly different from the typical European experience.
Here is a day-by-day look at our Georgia trip, where each day is filled with unforgettable experiences, scenic beauty, and many surprises.

Our journey started in Tbilisi, a city that felt like walking through a living storybook.
After checking in at the Hilton Garden Inn, I was eager to see what the city offered. The city tour felt like observing a beautiful painting, with each street corner telling its story. The cable car ride to Narikala Fortress was the perfect introduction to Tbilisi’s charm. Floating above the city, I could see the mix of old buildings, winding streets, and modern life. The 30-minute boat ride along the Mtkvari River added to the excitement and gave us a fresh perspective of the city. The sulfur baths were a one-of-a-kind experience. These ancient bathhouses offer a glimpse into the local culture and history. The warm, mineral-rich waters were a welcome relief after a day of exploring.
As the day turned into night, Tbilisi came alive. The city lights twinkled, traditional music filled the air, and the delicious aroma of fresh Khachapuri (cheese-filled bread) drifted through the streets. After a day full of adventure, we returned to the hotel, tired but excited for the next day.
Our day started with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, giving us the energy for the exciting day ahead.
At 9:00 AM, we set off for Ananuri Fortress, a beautiful ancient site by the Aragvi River, about 70 km from Tbilisi. The fortress was stunning, with its 13th-century architecture and rich history. This UNESCO site has two parts – the upper one is still in good condition, while the lower part shows the effects of time.
Next, we headed to Gudauri Ski Resort, set high in the Lesser Caucasus Mountains at 3,000 meters. The Georgia-Russia Friendship Monument, built in 1983, was a highlight with stunning panoramic views that seemed to go on forever. It was an ideal spot to take a break, breathe in the fresh air, and snap some pictures.
Our spiritual highlight of the day was visiting Gergeti Trinity Church, located 2,200 meters above sea level. The church seemed to float in the mountains, surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
For those seeking adventure, try paragliding over the Caucasus Mountains. We did it at a cost of around 350 Lari per person, quad bike rides were around 80 Lari per person and go-karting at around 100 Lari per person. Each experience revealed something new and exciting about Gudauri’s landscape. (Note – 1 Lari is around 30 INR)
As the day ended, the mountain light softened, casting a golden radiance over the peaks. We returned to our mountain resort, exhausted but happy. The mountains had truly worked their magic – challenging and inspiring us. After such an exciting day, we settled in for the night at the Gudauri Mountain Resort, dreaming of more adventures to come.
Borjomi greeted us with its legendary mineral waters and stunning natural beauty. Borjomi is a lovely mountain town famous for its spring water, which is said to have healing benefits. Surrounded by lush green mountains, it is a location where you can drink water that makes you feel great.
The fun really begins with off-road jeep tours that take you on bumpy rides through wild mountain trails, offering thrilling views of the beautiful landscapes of Georgia. Imagine speeding through forests and climbing steep mountain paths – it is like being in an adventure movie!
We visited the sulfuric pools, which offered a relaxing and almost magical wellness experience. Then, we explored Uplistsikhe, an ancient cave city carved into the rock. Walking through its tunnels and old structures felt like travelling back in time. The panoramic views of the surrounding landscape added to the experience, making it one of the most unique places I have ever visited.
Uplistsikhe Caves gave us a great insight into Georgia’s history and showed how well the country has preserved its ancient treasures. As the day ended, we enjoyed a simple dinner, amazed by the beauty we had seen.
After a delightful breakfast, we set off to explore the natural wonders of Georgia, starting with a visit to Prometheus Cave in Kutaisi. The journey took us deep underground, where we marvelled at the stunning stalactites and stalagmites that seemed to glow in shades of orange, red, and blue. The underground boat ride through the caves felt like exploring the depths of the earth. The canyon, with its green waters and striking rock shapes, felt like a secret paradise. We spent hours exploring, taking photos, and simply marvelling at the natural wonders around us.
Next, we made our way to the Martvili Canyon, where nature truly showed off. Take a peaceful boat ride through the clear waters of Martvili Canyon, surrounded by tall rocky cliffs and green forests. This stunning place feels like a hidden paradise. As night came, we relaxed, thinking about all the amazing things we had experienced that day.

On our way to Batumi, we couldn’t miss a stop at the stunning Dendrological Park. Set between lush greenery, the park provided a serene break before we continued our drive to Batumi. Batumi was a pleasant surprise – a perfect blend of modern architecture and natural beauty. The botanical garden and adventure activities like zip-lining and parasailing offered something for everyone. Batumi’s Botanical Garden, one of the largest in the world, was a highlight. As we strolled through the garden, we admired its diverse plant species, many found in only a few places on Earth.
Batumi is like a magical beach city that sits right next to the big, beautiful Black Sea! Imagine a place where every hotel has a window looking straight at the ocean – it is like living in a postcard! The waterfront is super exciting, with lots of cool things to see and do. People call Batumi the “mini Las Vegas” of the coast because it’s so fun and exciting. It is like a playground for grown-ups with exciting casinos in many hotels. For Indian travellers, it is a perfect spot with sunny beaches, fun water games, and exciting casinos to try your luck.
On day 6, we explored more of Batumi. We visited the famous Ali and Nino monument, a symbol of history and timeless love. It was amazing to see how Batumi blends its modern buildings with its rich traditions and history. Batumi’s charm reached the sea too, with a boat ride along the boulevard offering a fresh view of the city. Whether you love culture, history, or just want a peaceful place to unwind, Batumi has it all.
After our mountain adventures, we began our journey back to Tbilisi. The morning started with a leisurely breakfast at our mountain resort, memories of the past days still fresh in our minds. By 10:00 AM, we were on our way to the capital city.
The drive was scenic, shifting from mountains to valleys. We checked into the cosy Moxy Hotel and explored its hospitality during an afternoon inspection. As evening came, we looked back on our trip, eager for the rest of our journey.
On Day 8, we travelled to Sighnaghi, famously known as the City of Love. Perched on a hill, the city offered incredible views of the Caucasus Mountains and the Al-Azani Valley. It has a romantic history that captures the imagination. This city also has a unique claim to fame – couples can get married here 24/7, making it a popular spot for romantic getaways.
In Sighnaghi, we visited the Bodbe Monastery. A serene site linked to St. Nino, who introduced Christianity to Georgia. Its calm vibe and stunning views made it unforgettable.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the wine experience. Georgia, the cradle of wine, introduced us to Kvevri wine – a traditional method of wine-making practised for thousands of years. Each sip of wine connected us to Georgia’s rich past.
As we returned to Tbilisi, the evening sky was calm, and the experiences of the day stayed with us.
Our last day arrived with mixed emotions. After a tasty breakfast at the hotel, we had time for some final shopping. Tbilisi’s markets had the perfect souvenirs – local crafts, spices, and memories to take home.
By 12:00 PM, we checked out of the Moxy Hotel, our bags full of gifts and our hearts full of memories. The drive to Tbilisi International Airport gave us time to think about the amazing places, people, and moments we had experienced. At 5:20 PM, our flight took off, leaving Georgia behind but with memories that will stay with us forever.
