Tips for a Hassle-Free Trip to South Africa

    • Stay Safe and Aware: While major tourist areas are generally safe, it is best to avoid walking alone at night, especially in city centres. Use reliable taxis or rideshares like Uber and keep your valuables like your phone and wallet out of sight.
    • Car Safety: If you rent a car, always keep your doors locked and windows closed, especially at traffic lights. Do not leave any valuables visible in the car. It is not advisable to drive in remote or unfamiliar areas after dark.
    • Local currency: South Africa uses the Rand (ZAR). Cards work widely, but keep some cash; stay alert at ATMs and never share your PIN.
    • Dressing for Safari: Wear dull colours like khaki or off-white on safaris, not bright ones. Carry a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and insect repellent for a better experience.
    • Tap Water: Tap water in South Africa is safe in cities, but use bottled water in rural areas or if it looks unclear. Carry a reusable bottle for convenience.
    • Wildlife & Safari Etiquette: On safari, always follow your ranger’s instructions. Stay in the vehicle, keep noise low, and never feed animals. Stick to the marked routes and do not go into protected zones.
    • Respect Local Customs & Sensitive Sites: Respect cultural sites, townships and communities. Ask before taking photos of people, and be polite when people ask you to remove shoes or cover up at certain places.
    • Shopping Safety: Bargain at local markets but pay fair prices. Do not show large amounts of cash when shopping. Keep receipts for expensive items for airport customs.

    South Africa Tour Was Excellent

    Mr. Jitendra Mehta

My family and I enjoyed a great 12-day tour. The itinerary was excellent, the quality of hotels, Indian food, the comfort and the warmth, knowledge & charm of our guide Mr. Darshakbhai were all perfect! Extremely happy with this tour and highly recommendable to anyone that wants to enjoy the Wildlife & Adventure at its fullest. We were fortunate to see almost all of the animals in their natural habitats: leopard, elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, hippos, buffalo, ostrich. Cape Town is the most beautiful city I have ever visited: 360-degree views of mountains and coastline; the penguins. Take a good camera with a good zoom lens. It’s been a truly breath-taking and awesome experience and we highly recommend Flamingo Travels to anybody who wants to travel to Africa.
