Botanic Gardens Tour

Botanic gardens play a most important role in plant protection in New Zealand. They offer a crucial interface between people and nature in a largely urban environment.
Christchurch Botanic Garden: Originated over 150 years ago, the Christchurch Botanic Gardens is the green heart of the Garden City. The Botanic garden was found in 1863 with the planting of an English oak tree. Since then the Christchurch Botanic Gardens have grown from small beginnings to become a much-loved destination. Over the years natural wetlands and sand dunes have been altered into an elegantly cultivated 21 hectare park .More than 10 different gardens are surrounded by mature trees and expansive lawns which are mostly limited within a loop of the Avon River.
Wellington Botanic Garden: Outstanding merger of native bush, exotic trees, plant collections and stunning seasonal floral bedding displays – including 25,000 tulips in spring. Visit the award-winning Lady Norwood Rose Garden, the Begonia House conservatory tropical and temperate areas, succulent, fragrant and herb gardens, duck pond, historic conifer collection, sculpture walk, Peace Flame garden and a heritage rose collection in the adjacent Bolton Street Memorial Park.
