Experience Rock Climbing At Mcleodganj

Paragliding Sport in Kangra (Bir billing)

Billing and Bir are the names of the two quaint villages around 14 km apart from each other in the Kangra Valley. Billing is famous for its adventure sports like hand glide, Para-glide, camping, and trekking. Bir is renowned for its Tibetan culture, natural beauty, and tea gardens. The world-renowned spot and second highest in the world is the paragliding take-off point in Billing. The elevation is at 8000 feet, which offers fabulous panoramic views of the Kangra valley.  The launch site is in the meadows, around 14 km away from Bir. The landing site is in Bir at Chowgan. Bir is easily accessible from Palampur and Dharamshala. Bir has hosted the Paragliding World Cup. The height and the climate of the Billing are the most viable to enjoy any air-borne gliding sports activity. It has the best landing and takeoff sites, favorable and smooth winds or air currents, all conducive for paragliding. It is famous to host several national and international events. The best time for this activity in Bir Billing is not just one month but can be done year-round. But most paragliders prefer to paraglide from March till November. However, it is advisable to check the weather before you head for paragliding or any other airborne sports activity. The average cost is around INR 3000. 

Visit Manikaran – Gurudwara

Manikaran is a small town in the Kullu district of the Parvati Valley, located on the banks of the Parvati River. The town is located approximately 1760 meters above sea level. It is renowned as the pilgrimage place for both Sikhs and Hindus. As per Hindu mythology, Manu had created the first human in Manikaran, and so it is a sacred place for them. As per the Sikh’s mythology, their first Guru had visited here. This town attracts thousands of tourists not only based on its reputation as a holy land, but also for its amazing natural beauty and the popular Manikaran hot water springs and temples

People from all over the world visit Manikaran to take a dip in the holy waters. It is a belief that water has the healing power to cure muscle pain and diseases. These hot water springs in Manikaran have legends based on them. When Goddess Parvati mistakenly dropped a precious stone in this area, and when not found anywhere, Sheshnag hissed this hot spring to bring the stones on the surface. As per what Sikhs believe, Guru Nanak Devji was searching for fire to cook food for the needy. When he was unable to find any heat source, he prayed to God, and that is when this spring water became a hot water spring. He then cooked food in this hot water spring. People believe that they attain salvation after drinking or taking a dip in this spring water. 

The Manikaran Gurudwara holds an important place in the Sikh religion as per the Twelfth Guru Khalsa. Guru Nanak Devji and Bhai Mardana tied the flour and pulses in the cloth and had cooked food in the hot water spring. To this date, Sri Guru Nanak Devji cooks the food in pots immersed in this hot water spring and feeds everyone free of charge. 

Apart from Manikaran Gurudwara and Hot water springs, there are several other things to do in Manikaran like visit Lord Shiva Temple, Parvati River, and Harinder Mountains, and Lord Ramchandra Temple. 
People come from all across the country to see the Lord Shiva shrine. Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati had stayed at Manikaran for around 1100 years. Thus this temple holds great reverence amongst Hindus. In 1905, an earthquake tilted this temple a bit.  The town of Manikaran is situated on the Parvati River's banks. The Harinder Mountain ranges surround it. These mountains are covered with snow which makes Manikaran town more scenic. Lord Ramchandra temple is renowned for the idols of Ram and Sita. Lord Rama himself had brought this temple from Ayodhya. It also has several markets to explore and buy traditional local items. Summer is the perfect time to explore this magical spot, as the temperature hovers around 10 degrees Celsius. Visit Golf Course in Naldehra

Naldhera is a small hill station in Himachal Pradesh, around 22 kilometers from Shimla. It is renowned for its golf course, lush greenery, and mountain views filled with deodar, cedar, and pine trees. The backdrop of such majestic mountains, with the river Sutlej flowing through it, makes this place a picturesque hill station. Lord Curzon, the British Viceroy of India, discovered it. The most renowned place in the town is the golf course Naldhera. It is one of the oldest golf courses in India. The Naldhera golf course has nine holes, wherein most holes share one fairway and have several crisscrossing at many different angles. Dainkund peak is a 5km trek starting from Dainkund basecamp which is Lakkadmandi.The route to the peak is covered with a dense forest of fir and deodars. The woods, gently squeeze the trail and there will be times when you will be walking over, or between fallen trees. Reach the ridge at the end of the forest from where it's a one and a half kilometer stretch to the peak. After reaching the top, visit Pholani Mata Temple and stay here for a few hours and relax with the scenery. Enjoy the landscape views around while moving forward and click hundreds of pictures while enjoying the 360-degree view of Dalhousie ad snow-clad peak of Dhauladhar. After soaking in the views, start walking down to the endpoint. The trail ends at a bifurcation near the Dainkund viewpoint. The whole trekking journey would be ending at around 5 PM. Best time to visit:  summer season between the months of March to May.( During these months, the trekking trail is livelier and has magnificent scenery. The temperature is also pleasant during this time.)

Manikaran is a major pilgrimage and its hot water springs draws a lot of attraction. You will find this spot around 45 km from Kullu, at an altitude of 1760 m above the sea level The sulfur water shower is famously known in the place. It is a pool of water that gets heated naturally/geothermally as it emerges from the Earth’s crust. The water is said to have healing properties. The hot water springs in Manikaran cover a region of around 1.2 kms and is situated on the banks of Parvati River which flows across the town.The food is being cooked here for most of the time in the large utensils. People take small amount of rice and cook them in the Spring here and take it back with them. It usually takes 15-20 minutes to cook.Also you can find here sikh gurudwara and Hindu temples.Manikaran Place is concatenated with Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Legends hold it that once while roaming through the Parvati valley, Shiva and Parvati came across the place called Manikaran and they decided to stay for a vacation. During this, Goddess Parvati lost her Mani one of her precious stones in the waters stream. On Lord Shiva’s order, Sheshnag (Serpent God) hissed thereby giving rise to a flow of boiling water. Results in, the water spread over the entire area resulting in the emergence of precious stones Goddess Parvati. Therefore, this temple got the name- Manikaran, which is now a top pilgrimage site and among the best Kullu & Manali tourist places. A Gurudwara is also fixed here, named- The Guru Nanak Devji Gurudwara which is also popular as Manikaran Gurudwara and is linked with Guru Nanak. The gurudwara has a langar that offers free food. Kulant Pith is a nearby spot situated in Manikaran is which is considered to be the most sacred pith across India.Ramchandra Temple is very near to Manikaran Temple which is the one of the renowned temples of Kasol in Himachal- Pradesh. Maha Shivratri is celebrated among local residents and ardent devotees of Lord Shiva who come a long way for the commemoration.  Manikaran has a pleasant weather throughout the year. Nestled at a distance of 23 Km from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, the Golf Course in Naldehra is the oldest golf club in India. The golf course stretches over an extensive area surrounded by trees at an altitude of 2,200 metres. It is a par 68, 18-hole course with 16 greens and 18 tees.   In the year 1905, Lord Curzon was captivated by the beauty of the region and so he made his favourite camping site just outside the British summer capital of Shimla. What he made in 19's is now considered as one of the most scenic golf course in the country.
