Visit Manikaran – Gurudwara

Manikaran is a small town in the Kullu district of the Parvati Valley, located on the banks of the Parvati River. The town is located approximately 1760 meters above sea level. It is renowned as the pilgrimage place for both Sikhs and Hindus. As per Hindu mythology, Manu had created the first human in Manikaran, and so it is a sacred place for them. As per the Sikh’s mythology, their first Guru had visited here. This town attracts thousands of tourists not only based on its reputation as a holy land, but also for its amazing natural beauty and the popular Manikaran hot water springs and temples

People from all over the world visit Manikaran to take a dip in the holy waters. It is a belief that water has the healing power to cure muscle pain and diseases. These hot water springs in Manikaran have legends based on them. When Goddess Parvati mistakenly dropped a precious stone in this area, and when not found anywhere, Sheshnag hissed this hot spring to bring the stones on the surface. As per what Sikhs believe, Guru Nanak Devji was searching for fire to cook food for the needy. When he was unable to find any heat source, he prayed to God, and that is when this spring water became a hot water spring. He then cooked food in this hot water spring. People believe that they attain salvation after drinking or taking a dip in this spring water. 

The Manikaran Gurudwara holds an important place in the Sikh religion as per the Twelfth Guru Khalsa. Guru Nanak Devji and Bhai Mardana tied the flour and pulses in the cloth and had cooked food in the hot water spring. To this date, Sri Guru Nanak Devji cooks the food in pots immersed in this hot water spring and feeds everyone free of charge. 

Apart from Manikaran Gurudwara and Hot water springs, there are several other things to do in Manikaran like visit Lord Shiva Temple, Parvati River, and Harinder Mountains, and Lord Ramchandra Temple.
